Our Best Tips for Upgrading Your Wardrobe This Season

By Andrea Spanik
Without a doubt, new seasons tend to inspire people to revamp their wardrobes. Whether that means testing out a new trend, repurchasing old favorites, or filling in gaps in your current style lineup, upgrading your wardrobe is an excellent way to breathe a little life into your style.

Are you ready?

Here are some easy ways you can revamp your wardrobe for the season:

1)    Sort your current wardrobe

First things first, before you even begin to think about adding to your wardrobe, we recommend sorting through what items you currently own. There’s a strong possibility there are items you’ve forgotten about, that you don’t wear, or that could use replacing.

Be ruthless here: Toss out that shirt with the hole in it, make note that you seem to be missing a basic white tee from your wardrobe, and if that green dress you bought three summers ago still isn’t getting any use, donate it!

2)    Pick one (or two) trend(s)

Now that your closet is ready to welcome in some new pieces, we recommend identifying which trends you’re interested in.

This can be a bit overwhelming if you’re starting with a fairly basic wardrobe, so pick just one trend that interests you and commit to finding that perfect piece.

Maybe it’s a pair of mom jeans? Or perhaps you’re loving all the use of puff sleeves? Maybe it’s even just a color that you’re drawn to? Whatever the case, pick one, or perhaps two if you’re feeling adventurous. Sticking closely to one or two trends will keep you from getting overwhelmed.

3)    Don’t forget accessories

When we think about refreshing our wardrobes, we tend to focus on clothing, but let’s not forget accessories.

One of the easiest ways to take an outfit from plain to eye-popping, adding accessories to your wardrobe is a hassle-free way to bring some sparkle to your style.

4)    Don’t neglect basics + staples

We love a good trend as much as the next person, but if you don’t already have some of the classic staples in your wardrobe, it’s time to step up your game.

A good pair of jeans, a little black dress, the perfect tailored blazer, a pair of trendy sneakers—identify those pieces that never go out of style and make sure they’re a part of your wardrobe today. You’ll thank yourself later.

5)    Step outside your comfort zone

And lastly, when looking to refresh your wardrobe, we always encourage people to try new styles, trends, and designs that they might otherwise pass on.

This doesn’t mean you have to go for the wildest outfit ever, but even just adding a new color or a silhouette that you’re not accustomed to can make all the difference in helping you upgrade your sense of style.
